Treyhawk Productions was created in 1988 by Rob Perkins as a one-man operation for the sole purpose of entertaining audiences through the medium of game shows. Its early productions involved parodies of popular game shows, including Gyp-parody and Remotely in Control.
In the 1990's, Rob created another parody game show called Where in Heck is Melvin Sanfrancisco? Although noted for being a parody of the popular computer game series and PBS game show Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?, it was the first game show produced by Treyhawk Productions that allowed up to 50 contestants to play simultaneously. It quickly became the most popular game show the company ever produced, running at a number of science fiction conventions and live-action role-playing games, and it spawned similar-style game shows like The ACME Quest.
After 10 years of running game shows, Treyhawk Productions suspended operations as Rob Perkins got heavily involved with the world of community theatre. It would be another 10 years before Treyhawk Productions premiered the first season of its newest game show - Bargain Basement Game Show - at the 2008 Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, D.C. Bargain Basement Game Show is an original theatrical-based game show that combines the everyone-plays mentality of Where in Heck is Melvin Sanfrancisco? with comedy skits loosely built around a single theme. The second season of the game show will premiere at the 2009 Capital Fringe Festival.
